For beginner and intermediate freedivers, this course is a fantastic introduction to the sport of freediving and continued development for those with some freediving or spearfishing experience. Covering confined water work with simple breath holds and underwater swimming, theory, safety and open water practice on the ‘Lily Pad’ at Vobster Quay Diving Centre and recreational freediving. You will receive a * or ** certification depending on your performance.

The Course

We run a 2 day weekend freediving course at Vobster Quay in Somerset, combining classroom theory with practical exercises in confined and open water of the Quay.

The course will run from 08.30 to 17.00 on both days. At the end of the course students will qualify with a AIDA (International Association for the Development of Apnea) * or ** qualification depending on performance during the course.

What’s Included

The package on offer is probably the most comprehensive available. Included in your course fee is:

What’s NOT Included

There are a small number of things not included in your course fee:

  • Freediving Wetsuit hire (this can be arranged through Vobster Quay – information on this is in the Course Pack)
  • 10 GBP refundable deposit paid to Vobster Quay for return of their security key ring at the end of each open water day
  • Accommodation and meal on Saturday night

How long is the course?

  • The course takes place with two days open water at Vobster Quay in Somerset.

What are the performance requirements and prerequisites?

There are some minimum requirements for people to attend this course. These are listed below:

  • Be 16 years of age or older
  • Be able to swim at least 200m non stop without fins and at least 300m non stop with mask, fins and snorkel
